The prestigious magazine Harpers Bazaar, in its German edition, has chosen the hotel Paradisus by Meliá Salinas Lanzarote to promote the summer design of 2024. With models from Gucci and Bottega Veneta among others, the white concrete contrasted with the bright colours that, according to Harpers, will be a trend in the coming months.
The imposing brutalist building, with a characteristic Y-shape reminiscent of a ship, has been listed as artistic and cultural heritage of the island of Lanzarote. Today it is a hotel-museum that masterfully blends the rationalist architecture of Fernando Higueras and the murals and gardens of César Manrique, and which won the International Architecture Prize in 1979.
White concrete makes up 90% of the building, which makes it unique in the whole of the Canary Islands. Its 282 rooms, strategically placed by the Madrid architect to maximise guests’ privacy, are both a viewpoint and a vertical garden.
