Atom Hoteles SOCIMI acquires the 4-star, 213-room Hotel Senator Barcelona, located in les Corts, next to the Camp Nou and the University of Barcelona. It is a property of more than 20,000 square meters. The operation is the first “post covid” of Atom Hoteles SOCIMI.
Barcelona has not ceased to be an investment objective, despite the difficult situation in which the destination finds itself and will continue to be so as long as conditions are met, especially for institutional investors such as Atom Hoteles SOCIMI. The buyer is the first institutional investor of hotels in Spain since 2018, the year of incorporation of the company led by Bankinter and GMA.

The operation reinforces the positive data of the sector with respect to Barcelona that already closed 2021 with a record real estate investment of more than 3,600 million euros. The GMA team continues to analyse more operations in the city and other prime locations both
nationally and internationally, to the extent that Barcelona remains a consolidated international destination. The Mobile World Congress Barcelona marked a turning point and the return to normality. The hotels of the city face the spring with an intense activity, with about 40 events registered for the coming months of at least a thousand attendees, which marks the path of recovery.
The company is working on the plan to reform and replace the asset, as usual in the vehicles managed by GMA, where practically all the assets are renovated and, in a position, to compete. “With this operation, we optimize our resources, continue to generate value for Atom shareholders and implement our investment strategy to expand our portfolio of quality hotels, managed by accredited operators,” says Víctor Martí, founder and CEO of ATOM Hoteles SOCIMI.
